February 7, 2000 John Allen Snee, 66, a retired senior executive with the
Social Security Administration, died Monday at York Hospital after a lengthy
illness. Born and raised in Edwardsville, he was a son of the late John and
Mary Snee. A 1951 graduate of Edwardsville High School, he served in the U.S.
Air Force from 1953 until he was honorably discharged in 1956. Be earned a
bachelor’s degree in economics from King’s College in 1961 and a master’s
degree in economics from the University of Detroit in 1963. He spent most of
his career with the administration’s Office of Program Evaluation and
Planning, where he worked with Congressional committees and helped develop and
implement legislation for the Social Security program. He retired as director
of the Office of Disability Program Quality in 1993. Surviving are his wife,
Joyce Grove Snee; brothers, Eugene and Jerome; five nephews and four nieces.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles. Funeral arrangements are by
the Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Towson, Md. In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
