Sydney Allabaugh

Sydney Allabaugh was the education reporter at the Times Leader until July 2026. She joined the news team in July 2025 as the obituary clerk and soon transitioned into a reporting role. She is passionate about community-centered journalism and is dedicated to reporting with clarity, compassion, and accuracy. Sydney is a graduate of Hanover Area High School and Wilkes University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in communication studies. At Wilkes, she developed a passion for print and broadcast journalism, serving as editor-in-chief of The Beacon student-run newspaper and director of Wilkes Now student-run television program. She also received both the Tom Bigler Scholar Award, for journalistic integrity, and the Communication Studies Outstanding Student Award, having graduated summa cum laude at the top of her major. In her free time, Sydney enjoys photography, crafting, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family. She also loves cats and apple pie.
