HAZLE TWP. — Applications are being accepted for 400 new positions with Amazon Fulfillment Services in the Humboldt Industrial Park.

The hirings were confirmed Thursday by Kelly Cheeseman, spokeswoman for Amazon.com.

Cheeseman said company is accepting online applications at workatamazonfulfillment.com for warehouse associates to “pick, pack and ship” orders.

“We do require applicants to have an active email account,” Cheeseman said. “We correspond by email.”

The need for so many new employees at this point is a necessity to meet the “growing customer demand,” she said.

The full-time, year-round positions will offer benefits, including a 401K program and company stock awards, available day one, according to Cheeseman. Pay starts at $12.50 an hour with employees eligible for the company’s Career Choice Program.

The Career Choice Program is a prepaid tuition program, allowing employees to go to school for training for “in demand careers,” Cheeseman said.

“The education does not need to be tied to Amazon.com position,” she said. “We had one employee complete her nursing education.”

The non-unionized, Amazon Fulfillment Services, located at 550 Oak Ridge Road in Hazle Township, currently employs 2,000 people, according to Can Do’s Industrial Park Directory, updated in February.

Amazon.com agreed to occupy the 650,000-square-foot facility in 2008 and has remained one of the top employers in the 3,000-acre Humboldt Industrial Park in Hazle Township.
