WILKES-BARRE — Colours Inc. — a leading regional distributor of automotive paints, coatings and paint-related accessories — announced this week it is moving to a new, larger space in Hanover Township next year, creating 10 to 15 new jobs.
Owner Tim Evans, 60, of Shavertown, said Colours is an exclusive dealer of PPG Industries’ paint, a leader in the industry. The company started with three people in Wilkes-Barre in 1986 and has expanded to 330 shops in 32 locations in five states — Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and West Virginia.
Ali Mahalak, Evans’ daughter, is the company’s chief financial officer. She said Colours employs 322 people — 45 in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Meanwhile, the company recently has purchased two more stores in the Philadelphia area — two locations of R.W. Mallon.
Evans said Colours recently broke ground on a new $5.5 million, 40,000-square-foot warehouse/executive office building in the Hanover Industrial Park, and he expects to occupy the new space in April. The company’s current offices are at 233 S. Washington St. in Wilkes-Barre, across from St. Nicholas Church.
