Tyre Square Club will present host their 2017 Christmas Party from 7 p.m. to midnight Dec. 23 at the V.F.W. Post 283, 757 Wyoming Ave., Kingston. Tickets cost $25 in advance and $30 at the door the evening of the event. Call 570-714-4509 for tickets. The party features comfort food buffet style, refreshments, a DJ, door prizes, 50/50 drawing, basket raffles and drawings of $25, $50 and $100.

Luzerne County Historical Society is holding a holiday sale at the Bishop Library and LCHS Museum gift shops through Dec. 23. All regular-priced merchandise will be 15 percent off. Additional sale items are also available. Museum admission is free for members and $5 for non-members and $3 for non-member children. The museum and library will be closed Dec. 2, but “festive traditions” will take place at the Denison House and Swetland Homestead between 2 and 6 p.m. The museum and library will also be closed from Dec. 24 through Jan. 2. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre: noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, noon to 6 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday; LCHS Museum, 69 Rear S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre: 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Dupont V.F.W. Post 4909 will host a New Year’s Eve Party from 7:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Dec. 31 into Jan. 1. Dinner buffet will take place from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m.; bar will be open from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.; and dancing will take place from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Live music will be provided by Millennium; and late-night snacks, platters, coffee, doughnuts, hats, noisemakers and leis will be provided. The donation is $40 per person and tickets and reservations are available by seeing Bob Lopata at the V.F.W. or by calling Bob at 570-654-9104. All PLCB regulations apply. The post will hold its next meeting at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 8 at the post home. Commander Mark Roney will preside. The Home Association meeting will follow, and nominations will be held for the following officers: president, vice-president, secretary, three-year director and one-year director. Food, refreshments and camaraderie will occur.

Daddow-Isaacs Dallas American Legion, Post 672 will hold their monthly meeting on Jan. 2 at the post home. Legionnaires will vote on whether or not to ban smoking inside the post home. Any Legion member who wishes to comment on this recommendation should express opinions to a Legion officer and attend the January meeting.

North-End Slovak Citizens Club will hold its monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Jan. 14. The club is located at 635 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. All members are invited to attend. President Robert Palchanis will preside over the meeting. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.
