West Pittston Cherry Blossom Festival Committee, will be selling banners for the annual fundraiser. Banners cost $150 for the firs year and $50 for the renewal of a banner. Payment is due by April 1. All proceeds go towards helping the West Pittston community and its festival.

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 102, will meet at 7 p.m. March 15 at the V.F.W. in Kingston. Notations of officers will take place. All members are welcome. Senior Vice Commander Ray Smith will preside.

Avoca West Side Social Club will hold its inaugural Saint Patrick’s Day celebration beginning at 1 p.m. March 17. Event begins with a blessing at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Avoca followed by a march to the Avoca West Side Social Club, 711 McAlpine St., A ham and cabbage dinner will be served, and there will be live entertainment. A donation of $20 per person is requested and can be made at the door. Celebration lasts until 6 p.m. Michael George will receive Man of the Year honors. The club will hold its annual Children’s Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. March 24 for children 12 and under. The Easter Bunny will be there and photo opportunities will be available.

Sons of American Legion Squadron 644, 259 Shoemaker St., Swoyersville, will hold its St. Patrick’s Day Dinner-Dance at the post home on March 17. Elvis impersonator Brian Martin will entertain and Ceol Mor Drum and Fife Band will make an appearance. Ham, cabbage, corned beef, carrots and potatoes will be served from 7 to 8 p.m. $30 per adult. Friends of the Pittston Memorial Library, will celebrate the second annual Women of the Round Table at 2 p.m. March 18 in the Cosgrove Room, Broad Street, Pittston. The celebration is in honor of Women’s History Month. The friends have implemented the round table to depict women as they gathered to exchange stories, laugh, maybe cry a little, solve problems and enjoy conversation while sipping a cup of coffee or tea. Kingston Historical Society, will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. March 22 in the Kingston Borough Building. Plans for the 90th Anniversary celebration of Kingston High School on April 26 will be finalized. The event will be held at Wyoming Valley West Middle School (formerly Kingston High School). Twin Boro Lions Club, of Sugar Notch and Warrior Run, will hold its annual Easter Party at 10 a.m. March 24 at the Warrior Run Fire Hall. Children ages 10 and younger are invited but must preregister at Derff’s Pizza, Top Notch Pizza, Steve’s Auto Body or with their PSR instructors from Holy Family Church in Sugar Notch or any Twin Boro Lions member. Dallas Chapter Eastern Star Building Association, will hold a craft, vendor, book and gently used item sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 24 at the building association, 15 Foster St., Dallas. Hudson V.F.W., LANI Post 6325, 35-37 Cleveland St., Hudson, will hold it’s annual Easter Party for children ages newborn to 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. March 24. Deadline for registration is March 17 at the post home. The Easter Bunny will be there to hand out candy to the children after the magic show. Good and refreshments will be served. The facility will be smoke free for the event.

Daddow-Isaacs Dallas American Legion Post 672, in conjunction with Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion, Memorial Highway, Dallas, will host its annual Kid’s Easter Party on March 24. American Legion Mountain Post 781, will hold its annual Ham Shoot at 11 a.m. March 25 at the post home, 1550 Henry Drive, Mountain Top. The shoot is open to all members and the community. For information, call 570-678-7105.

Knights of Columbus Wilkes-Barre Council 302, will host a Lenten speaker at 7 p.m. March 27 in the conference room in the basement of Saint Mary’s Immaculate Conception rectory, 134 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre. The presentation will be delivered by Sister Marie Noel Keller, RSM, who is the director of the Institute on Sacred Scripture at Misericordia University. The topic will be “Excellence by way of Seneca, Paul , Luke and Jesus. Where do you stand?” Members and the public are cordially welcome to attend.

Greater Hazleton Rail to Trails, the March 12 meeting was cancelled. The next meeting will be held on April 2.

Wyoming Valley Women’s Club, will sponsor a bus trip to see “Steel Magnolias” at the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse in New Jersey on April 4. Dallas Lions Club, will hold their annual Night at the Races on April 14 at the Gate of Heaven Gym on Machell Avenue in Dallas. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and post time is 7:15 p.m. Admission is $5 but is waived with the purchase of a horse for $10. Proceeds will be donated to Lions Club Charities such as: The Association for the Blind, Beacon Lodge Camp for Blind Children, Leader Dogs for the Blind, the Back Mountain Library and several other local and state-wide charities.

Friends of the Back Mountain Memorial Library, will hold their annual luncheon with a special author and local educator Cecilia Galante, at 11 a.m. April 19. The event will take place at the Appletree Terrace, Newberry Estates, Dallas. Tables of eight are encouraged and may be reserved. Checks for $27 per person made payable to Back Mountain Memorial Library can be mailed or delivered to 96 Huntsville Road, Dallas by April 7. Registration forms are available at the library.
