The Greater Wilkes-Barre Labor Council (GWBLC) and the NEPA Labor Day Festival Committee recently combined efforts in conducting a special educational and entertainment event for local veterans who reside at the Wilkes-Barre V.A. Medical Center (VAMC) Community Living Center, as well as those veterans who are VAMC out-patients. The veterans were greeted by members of the Wilkes-Barre City Police force, state representatives Eddie Day Pashinski and Gerald Mullery, and Coleen Eagan Gerrity, who represented Congressman Matt Cartwright. The luncheon was followed by a visit to the Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, where veterans participated in a local coal mining history exhibit and viewed the film “The Molly Maguires.” Seated, from left, are VAMC staff members Mariam Shomsky, Mike Bryant, Robert Smith, Maureen Cooper, and BVAMC Community Living Center resident John W.
