Adult Learners honored for their dedication

The Luzerne County Council on Adult Higher Education recognized adult students at five Luzerne County institutions who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to reach their educational goals. The outstanding adult learners who were honored at the program are, front row: Marcus Grudzinski, Wilkes-Barre, Misericordia University; Shaina Shelton, Bear Creek, Penn State Wilkes-Barre; Angela Roman, Hanover Township, Luzerne County Community College; Jason Karlavige, Dickson City, Wilkes University; and Corey Scott Owen, Harding, King’s College. Award presenters, second row, are Dr. Allan W. Austin, professor of history, Misericordia University; Dr. Heather Grimm, assistant professor of exercise science, King’s College; Melisa Naylor, program coordinator and instructor of rehabilitation and human services, and Garrett Huck, assistant professor of rehabilitation and human services, Penn State Wilkes-Barre; Eric Ruggiero, chair and associate professor in the Department of Integrative Media, Wilkes University, and Edward Hennigan, assistant director of admissions and advisor to the Adult Learner Association, Luzerne County Community College.
