Ice cream social, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 26, Town Hill United Methodist Church, Town Hill Road, Shickshinny. Menu also features homemade soup, sandwiches, pies and cakes. Take-out available. 570-864-2401

Memorial Day coffee and doughnut stand, sponsored by Centenary United Methodist Church, 24 North Main St., Ashley, during Ashley Borough Memorial Day Parade. Stand opens at 8 a.m. May 28 and parade begins at 9.

Roast Beef Dinner, following 10:30 a.m. Memorial Day service at Oakdale United Methodist Church, 485 Oakdale Drive, Hunlock Creek. Dinner will be served at 11 .m. with roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, creamed cole slaw, baked beans, corn, apple sauce, bread and butter, homemade pie and beverage. An evening meal will be served from 3 to 6 p.m. and will feature hot roast beef sandwiches, mashed potatoes, hot dogs and homemade ice cream. $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 6 to 12. Ham Dinner for Missions, 5 to 7 p.m. June 2, Trucksville United Methodist Church Educational Facility, 40 Knob Hill Road, Trucksville (enter Shavertown for GPS), with ham, scalloped potatoes, corn, baked beans and dessert. Tickets, $9. Take-out begins at 4:30 p.m. Please call 570-696-3897 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday to make reservations. Proceeds benefit October mission trip to Tlancualpican, Mexico.

Chicken BBQ, 2 to 5 p.m. June 2, Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 401 East Main St. (Miners Mills) Wilkes-Barre, take-outs only, $10. Menu includes 1/2 chicken, baked potato, baked beans, cole slaw, roll and dessert. Reservations suggested. Limited tickets sold at the door. Call 570-313-2180.

Chicken Barbecue dinner, noon to 5 p.m. June 2, sponsored by the youth of First Baptist Church of Pittston, Water Street, Pittston, to benefit youth trip to Washington, D.C. With a $6 donation you receive a ticket for chicken barbecue with macaroni & cheese, vegetable, roll and dessert. Tickets can be reserved by calling the church at 570-654-0283. Tickets will also be available at the door. The dinner is eat in or take out.

Turkey Dinner, will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. June 9 at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 321 Chestnut Ave., Kingston. $10 for adults; $6 for children under 12. Take-out available from 4 to 5 p.m. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door. Advance tickets are available by calling Roger at 570-288-6263.

Strawberry social, 4 to 7 p.m. June 16, Centenary United Methodist Church, 24 North Main St., Ashley, full menu includes homemade strawberry shortcake.
