Hudson V.F.W., LANI Post 6325, will hold its annual Memorial Day services at 11 a.m. May 28 at the post home, 35-37 Cleveland Street, Hudson. Posted officers and interested regular members are asked to be present at 10 a.m. Prior to the official services, community residents are invited to attend a ceremony honoring deceased and living veterans.

West Pittston American Legion, will replace all the American flags on veterans’ gravesites at the West Pittston Cemetery, Susquehanna Ave., at 10:30 a.m. May 26. On May 28, the 1st Lieutenant Jeff Deprimo Flag Brigade will march in the Exeter-West Pittston Parade with lineup starting at the Linden Street Cemetery. Info: Ron Gitkos, 570-654-2261.

Mountain American Legion Post 781, Memorial Day ceremonies will be held on May 27. Participating organizations will be American Legion Mountain Post 781, Dorrance Post 288, Ashley Post 673 and Slocum VFW Post 7918. Members of Post 781 are asked to meet at the post home at 10 a.m. Schedule: 10:30 a.m., VFW Post 7918 Memorial, Slocum Township; 11 a.m., St. Matins in the Field Church (Stone Church); 11:30 a.m., St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dorrance Township; Noon, Emmanuel Church, end of Aberdeen Road; 12:30 p.m., Albert Cemetery, Church Road; 1 p.m., Mountain Post 781 Memorial. Refreshments will be served after the ceremonies at the post home.

Daddow-Isaacs Dallas American Legion Post 672, will holds its annual Memorial Day Program beginning at 11 a.m. May 28 at the Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Dallas Memorial Highway. The program will consist of the Dallas High School Band playing patriotic songs and the Dallas American Legion ritual of honoring the dead, placing of the memorial wreath, and saluting deceased veterans. American Legion Post 971, will meet at 1 p.m. May 28 the Glen Lyon American Legion Post 539, 62 Newport St., Glen Lyon. Memorial Day services for the post will begin at 9 a.m. May 28 at the Wanamie Firehouse, 2 Center St., Wanamie. Services will be conducted as in prior years.

Plymouth American Legion, will sponsor Memorial Day service at 11 a.m. May 28 at Shawnee Cemetery. In case of inclement weather, the service will be held at the Legion hall, 33 Center Ave., Plymouth. Refreshments will be served after the service.

Frances Dorrance Chapter of Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology, will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. May 29 at the Duryea Municipal Building at 315 Main St., Duryea. The meeting is open to the public, and the presentation is free. Richard D. Sala will discuss the Early Spanish Colonial Contact Period along the Chesapeake Bay and Susquehanna River.

Nanticoke Historical Society, will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. May 31 at the society offices in the historic Samantha Mill House, 495 E. Main St., Nanticoke, next to the Mill Memorial Library. New members are welcome. Enter the parking lot from Kosciuski Street. Information: 570-258-1367. Light refreshments will be served.

Dupont VFW Post 4909, will meet at 7:30 p.m. June 4 at the post home. Commander Mark Roney will preside. The Home Association meeting will follow. Food, refreshments and camaraderie will occur after both meetings.

Washington Square Residents Club, will sponsor a Rummage Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 7 and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 8 ($4 Bag Day). There will also be a bake sale. The sale will feature clothing, electrical items, knick-knacks, books, jewelry and more.

Wilkes University Polish Room Committee, will hold its seventh annual Polish Room Tea at noon June 13 at the Irem Temple Country Club in Dallas. Dallas Rotary Club, will sponsor its sixth annual special wine and dine event for charity on June 23 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Luzerne County Fairgrounds, Route 118, Dallas. The Wine & Dine Festival will feature tastings of the finest wines from the Back Mountain and Endless Mountains areas and beyond. A variety of food and goods will also be available for sale by area vendors and craftsmen, and there will be live musical entertainment all day long by Iron Cowboy, Flaxy Morgan, Big Daddy Dex and The Dan Reynolds Duo.
