Ham Dinner for Missions, 5 to 7 p.m. June 2, Trucksville United Methodist Church Educational Facility, 40 Knob Hill Road, Trucksville (enter Shavertown for GPS), with ham, scalloped potatoes, corn, baked beans and dessert. Tickets, $9. Take-out begins at 4:30 p.m. Please call 570-696-3897 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday to make reservations. Proceeds benefit October mission trip to Tlancualpican, Mexico.

Chicken BBQ, 2 to 5 p.m. June 2, Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 401 East Main St. (Miners Mills) Wilkes-Barre, take-outs only, $10. Menu includes 1/2 chicken, baked potato, baked beans, cole slaw, roll and dessert. Reservations suggested. Limited tickets sold at the door. Call 570-313-2180.

Chicken Barbecue dinner, noon to 5 p.m. June 2, sponsored by the youth of First Baptist Church of Pittston, Water Street, Pittston, to benefit youth trip to Washington, D.C. With a $6 donation you receive a ticket for chicken barbecue with macaroni & cheese, vegetable, roll and dessert. Tickets can be reserved by calling the church at 570-654-0283. Tickets will also be available at the door. The dinner is eat in or take out.

FUTURE

Turkey Dinner, will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. June 9 at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 321 Chestnut Ave., Kingston. $10 for adults; $6 for children under 12. Take-out available from 4 to 5 p.m. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door. Advance tickets are available by calling Roger at 570-288-6263.

Strawberry Festival, 4:30 to 7 p.m. June 12, Forty Fort United Methodist Church, corner of Wyoming Avenue and Yeager Avenue in Forty Fort. Ticket price of $4 includes ice cream, strawberries, cake and beverage. Hot dogs and wimpies will be available at $1.50 each. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance by calling 570-287-3840. Take-outs are available.

Strawberry social, 4 to 7 p.m. June 16, Centenary United Methodist Church, 24 North Main St., Ashley, full menu includes homemade strawberry shortcake. Donations: $9.50 for adults; $5.50 for children ages 6 to 12. Children 5 and younger are free. $4.50 for just strawberry shortcake. Information: 570-735-1514

Centenary United Methodist Church annual tea, 24 North Main St., Ashley, 1 to 3 p.m. June 24. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 570-899-0906. Entertainment will be by William Dunn.

All-you-can-eat pig roast, noon to 4 p.m. July 8, Queen of the Apostles Parish Hall, 742 Spring St., Avoca. Take-out dinners will be available all day and additional seating is available under an outdoor tent. Menu includes roasted pig on the spit, wimpies, hot dogs, corn on the cob, salads, desserts, soda, and water. There will also be a cash prize grand raffle, basket raffle, children’s games and a bake sale. LOCAL EVENTS

Comedy Night Fundraiser for Single Moms of NEPA, will take place at 9 p.m. June 2 at Wise Crackers Comedy Club in Mohegan Sun Pocono. Featured comedians are Jared Freid, Glen Tickle and Michelle Tomko. Event features gift basket raffles and door prizes. Funds will go toward helping area single moms by fostering social, emotional and financial support.

‘Springtime Birds in My Backyard’ book-signing, 11 a.m. June 2 at Wild Birds Unlimited store, Dallas Shopping Center, Dallas. The easy-to-read children’s book explores birds’ magnificent colors and their calls. It was written by Keystone College professor Dr. Karen Yarrish and illustrated by Keystone professor David Porter.
