Nanticoke Historical Society, will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. May 31 at the society offices in the historic Samantha Mill House, 495 E. Main St., Nanticoke, next to the Mill Memorial Library. New members are welcome. Enter the parking lot from Kosciusko Street. Information: 570-258-1367. Light refreshments will be served.

Dupont VFW Post 4909, will meet at 7:30 p.m. June 4 at the post home. Commander Mark Roney will preside. The Home Association meeting will follow. Food, refreshments and camaraderie will occur after both meetings.

American Legion Auxiliary Mountain Post 781, will hold its last meeting before breaking for the summer at 7:30 p.m. June 5 at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend. Upper Valley Eye Bank, will hold its annual banquet on June 7 at Bettelli’s Villa, Kidder St., Wilkes-Barre. 6 p.m. cocktails; 6:30 p.m. dinner; open menu with separate checks. Reservations by June 5 with Betty Dantone at 570-655-3403 or via email at [email protected]

Washington Square Residents Club, will sponsor a Rummage Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 7 and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 8 ($4 Bag Day). There will also be a bake sale. The sale will feature clothing, electrical items, knick-knacks, books, jewelry and more.

American Legion Post 837 Brookside, will meet at 7:30 p.m. June 11 at the North End Slovak Citizens Club, 635 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. New members are welcome.

Wilkes University Polish Room Committee, will hold its seventh annual Polish Room Tea at noon June 13 at the Irem Temple Country Club in Dallas. Susan Najaka and Mary Lou Zaleski are co-chairs for the event. The tea costs $25. Reservations can be made by calling Susan at 570-736-6304 or Mary Lou at 570-736-6336.

Wyoming Valley Civil War Round Table, will meet at 7 p.m. June 14 in the lower level of the Daddow-Isaacs American Legion, 730 Route 415, Dallas. The program for the evening is titled “Women Soldiers in the Civil War.” There are hundreds of documented cases of women who fought disguised as men during the Civil War. Tracey McIntire and Audrey Scanlan-Teller will discuss and share documentation of some of the more fascinating women and what motivated them to fight alongside men. The program is open to the public. A $3 donation will be accepted for non-members. New members are always welcome. For information, contact John at 570-675-8936.

Corvette Club of NEPA, will meet at 7 p.m. June 14 at Valley Chevrolet Service Complex, 221 Conyngham Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Interested Corvette owners are welcome. Visit ccnepa.com for details.

Italian American, June dinner meeting will be held at 6 p.m. June 15 at the Dupont VFW. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $24 per person with a cash bar. San Cataldo Society of Pittston, will hold its annual Family Picnic at 1 p.m. June 16 at the American Legion Pavilion in Pittston. Dallas Rotary Club, will sponsor its sixth annual special wine and dine event for charity on June 23 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Luzerne County Fairgrounds, Route 118, Dallas. The Wine & Dine Festival will feature tastings of the finest wines from the Back Mountain and Endless Mountains areas and beyond. A variety of food and goods will also be available for sale by area vendors and craftsmen, and there will be live musical entertainment all day long by Iron Cowboy, Flaxy Morgan, Big Daddy Dex and The Dan Reynolds Duo. Wyoming Valley Woman’s Club, will sponsor a trip to see “Nunsense” at the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse in New Jersey on Aug. 8. The trip costs $90, which includes bus seat, ticket to the show and lunch.
