DALLAS — Volunteers of the Meadows Auxiliary are preparing for the 34th annual Market on the Pond, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 16 on the center grounds, 4 E. Center Hill Road, Dallas. The events features 120 vendors offering a variety of goods. Proceeds benefit the Meadows Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. The rain date is June 23. The auxiliary is asking for donations for raffle baskets and gift cards. A large number of baskets have been donated and are on display in the center lobby. Chances are available for purchase for $1, and the drawing will be held the day of the event. The community is also invited to donate items that can be used for auxiliary-run booths. Acceptable donations include new or gently used household odds and ends, soft and hardcover books and plants. Electronics, household appliances, magazines, clothing and large exercise equipment will not be accepted. Donations can be brought to the center on June 2 and 9 from 9 a.m. to noon. Other times can be arranged by calling the community services office at 5470-675-8600, ext. 195 or 115.

LUZERNE/WYOMING COUNTIES — Volunteers 55 and older in Luzerne and Wyoming Counties are needed to visit homeboudn senior adults, who would like conversation and socialization. Men and women in The Senior Peer Counseling Program (SPCP) of Community Counseling Services and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) who qualify visit weekly. After completing the screening and training, Senior Peer Counselors see individuals 60 and older in their homes. People who are enthusiastic about working with older adults are trained in basic counseling and listening skills to provide this valuable service. Both volunteers and homebound seniors are welcome. MOUNTAIN TOP — Mountain Top Social Club will meet at 1 p.m. on June 12 and 26 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Route 309 in Mountain Top. June 14 and July 19 trips have been canceled because not enough people signed up. Trips to the Hollywood Casino will continue every fourth Thursday of each month through November. The cost is $25 per person. The price includes a $30 rebate to play and a $5 buffet voucher or 25 percent off a casual dinner. Payment is requested by the beginning of each month. PLAINS TOWNSHIP — The Plains Senior Citizens will meet at noon June 6 at the Saint Benedict Parish Church hall located in the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre at 155 Austin Ave. The summer member picnic will be held at noon June 20 at the Plains Pavilion. Patricia Bonheck will collect $10 per person for the picnic at the meeting. Host and hostesses will be Nancy Nahill, Dorothy Peters, Lillion Piechota, Arlene and Joe Ruane and Adele Schneidereit. They are asked to arrive at 11:30 a.m. to set up refreshments. New members 55 and over are welcome.

PLYMOUTH — The Senior Citizens’ Friendship Club of St. Mary’s will hold its Mom and Dad Dinner will be held at 1 p.m. June 3 at R&D Memories, 566 Fellows Ave., Hanover Township. Reservations are now being taken. There will be a day trip to the Rainbow Comedy Playhouse in Lancaster on July 11. The show is “Getting Mama Married.” The price of $65 includes the show, dinner, transportation, all gratuities, and a stop after the show. Call (570) 779-3203 for reservations. A trip to Wildwood, N.J., Sept. 9 through 13 (5 days, 4 nights) is being planned. Full details will be provided later.

SWOYERSVILLE — The Swoyersville Senior Citizens will meet at 1 p.m. June 6 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church social hall with President Liz Zdanciewicz presiding. There will be a social hour with refreshments following the business meeting. New members are welcome.

WILKES-BARRE — The St. Robert Bellarmine Seniors will meet on June 12, which will be the last meeting until Sept. 12. A pizza party is planned for the June meeting. The refreshment committee will be Sue and Tom Kravulski and Lorraine Loftus. The June trip to the Hollywood Casino is filled. Casino trips are scheduled for the fourth Thursday of each month. The bus will leave from St. Al’s at 7:45 a.m. Anyone interested in the trips should call Otto Eime at 570-407-0056.

WHITE HAVEN — The White Haven Area Senior Citizens, will hold their annual Mother/Father dinner at 4 p.m. June 26 and their Picnic at 4 p.m. Aug. 24. Both events will take place at the L&L Fire Hall. The Mother/Father dinner menu features cream of potato soup, turkey with stuffing, pork with mandarin organ, candied sweet potatoes (without walnuts), coleslaw, honey-glazed carrots, dessert, rolls with butter and beverages. Entertainment will be provided by George Rittenhouse. The Menu for the Picnic features tossed salad, chicken marsala, piggies in a blanket, scalloped potatoes, coleslaw, Italian marinated vegetable salad, dessert and beverages. Each activity costs $22 for members and $27 for non-members. Reservations and payment for the Mother/Father dinner must be received by Charlene Miller at 570-443-8526 before noon on June 18.
