WVW students excel at Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science

The Wyoming Valley West School District participated for the ninth year in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science. The regional meeting was held in March and the state meeting was held in May at the main campus of Penn State University. The students pictured participated in the mathematics category and earned the listed awards. First row: Murphy Pick, seventh grade, first awards in region and state; Max Saporito, seventh grade, first awards in region and state; Michala Dennis, 10th grade, second award in region. Second row: Adam Shaw, eighth grade, second award in region; Aiden Shymanski, ninth grade, first awards in region and state; Ivan Prodanets, seventh grade, first award in region, second award in state. Third row: Mrs. Maria Konopke, sponsor; ​Brandon Lantz, 10th grade, first award in region, second award in state; ​Stepan Prodanets, eighth grade, first awards in region and state, perfect score, Zappa State Award for Excellence. Fourth row: Adam Cavalari, eighth grade, first award in region, second award in state; Logan Carey, ninth grade, first awards in region and state.
