Strawberry social, 4 to 7 p.m. June 16, Centenary United Methodist Church, 24 North Main St., Ashley, full menu includes homemade strawberry shortcake. Donations: $9.50 for adults; $5.50 for children ages 6 to 12. Children 5 and younger are free. $4.50 for just strawberry shortcake. Information: 570-735-1514

Piggie Sale, pickup will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. June 16 at the Saint Nicholas Byzantine Church on Tripp Street in Swoyersville for those who placed orders.

FUTURE

Family-style Beef Dinner, will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 23 at the Sweet Valley Volunteer Fire Company. Take-out begins at 4 p.m. $12 for adults; $6 for children ages 6 to 11; free for children under 6.

Centenary United Methodist Church annual tea, 24 North Main St., Ashley, 1 to 3 p.m. June 24. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 570-899-0906. Entertainment will be by William Dunn.

All-you-can-eat pig roast, noon to 4 p.m. July 8, Queen of the Apostles Parish Hall, 742 Spring St., Avoca. Take-out dinners will be available all day and additional seating is available under an outdoor tent. Menu includes roasted pig on the spit, wimpies, hot dogs, corn on the cob, salads, desserts, soda, and water. There will also be a cash prize grand raffle, basket raffle, children’s games and a bake sale. LOCAL EVENTS

Commemorative Air Force (CAF) AirPower History Tour will bring the sights, sounds, and stories of World War II aviation to Wilkes Barre/Scranton International Airport, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 13-17. FIFI, one of only two B-29 bombers in the world that still fly, will be accompanied by a C-45 Expeditor, and a T-6 Texan. Visitors will be able to view aircraft up close and tour the cockpit when plane is not flying. Aircraft will be staged on the main ramp at Aviation Technologies, 101 Hangar Road, Avoca, Pennsylvania 18641. Access to the ramp is $10 for adults and $5 for youth age 10 through 18. Children under age 10 are admitted free. Rides range from $85 to $1595 depending on aircraft type. Rides may be booked in advance at AirPowerTour.org.

Crossflame Youth Choir and Orchestra, 7 p.m. June 14 at Shavertown United Methodist Church, 163 North Pioneer Ave., Shavertown. The choir and orchestra, from Hickory, N.C., are on their 23rd consecutive summer concert tour. They have previously performed in Canada, Scotland and at the Grand Ol’ Opry in Nashville. A free will offering will be collected to support the tour.

Maternal & Family Health Services 25th annual golf tournament, June 14, Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club, Mountaintop. Shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Fee is $125 per person, $500 for a foursome, which includes carts, greens fees, lunch, dinner and refreshments.
