Eleven students from E.L. Meyers Junior-Senior High School attained national and local chapter recognition on the 2018 National Spanish Examinations. Meyers students have a long history of high achievement on these exams and are taught by Spanish teachers, Mrs. Tamara Pegarella and Miss Susan LaCoe. The National Spanish Examinations are administered each year in grades 6 through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Students are tested at various levels and in one of three categories: classroom experience, outside experience or bilingual. Ashly Gutierrez earned a national silver medal and regional honorable mention. Tracy Lopez and Dylan Romero earned national bronze medals and regional honorable mentions. Felishia Torres, Emely Sosa, Melanie Herbel, Nelbin Polanco, Jamie Vergara, Dalia Castellano, Lydia McFarlane, and Arly Aguilar earned National and Regional Honorable Mentions.
