Family-style Beef Dinner, will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 23 at the Sweet Valley Volunteer Fire Company. Take-out begins at 4 p.m. $12 for adults; $6 for children ages 6 to 11; free for children under 6.

Ice Cream Social, will take place at Town Hill UMC, 417 Town Hill Road, Shickshinny, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 23, featuring homemade soup, sandwiches, ice cream, pies and cakes. Take-out available.

Centenary United Methodist Church annual tea, 24 North Main St., Ashley, 1 to 3 p.m. June 24. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 570-899-0906. Entertainment will be by William Dunn.


All-you-can-eat pig roast, noon to 4 p.m. July 8, Queen of the Apostles Parish Hall, 742 Spring St., Avoca. Take-out dinners will be available all day and additional seating is available under an outdoor tent. Menu includes roasted pig on the spit, wimpies, hot dogs, corn on the cob, salads, desserts, soda, and water. There will also be a cash prize grand raffle, basket raffle, children’s games and a bake sale. 27th annual Chicken BBQ, will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. July 21 at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 1422 Mt. Zion Road, Exeter Township. Take-out begins at 4 p.m. $10 for adults; $6.50 for children.


Wine and Dine Festival, sponsored by Dallas Rotary Club, 1 to 6 p.m. June 23 at the Luzerne County Fairgrounds, Route 118, Dallas, with 16 wineries plus food vendors, crafters and musical entertainment. Tickets $15 in advance and $25 at the gate. Designated driver tickets are $5. VIP tickets are $40 with entrance time of noon. 13th annual tour of historic churches, sponsored this year by Kingston Historical Society and led by attorney Jan Lokuta. Meet at 1 p.m. June 24 at Wyoming Seminary’s Stettler Learning Resource Center, Sprague Avenue, Kingston. Tour will include stops at the Wyoming Seminary bell tower, the Wyoming Valley Montessori School, the Church of Christ Uniting, the Dorranceton United Methodist church and the Westmoor Church of Christ.
