Harold Burke was recently honored by the Foster Grandparent Program with the ‘Experience of a Lifetime Award,’ which is presented to individuals who turn 90 while participating in the program. Burke, who became a Foster grandparent in 2006, is stationed at the Valley Elementary School in Sugarloaf and has touched the lives of many at-risk children in the Hazleton Area School District. Foster grandparents are individuals age 55 or older who meet income eligibility standards and wish to work with children. Anyone interested may call 570-822-1158 or 1-800-252-1512.
