The Luzerne County Community College nursing department from the Mary Gill Carrozza, R.N. School of Nursing and Health Sciences at the Francis S. and Mary Gill Carrozza, R.N. Health Sciences Center recently hosted the ninth annual Northeastern/Central Pennsylvania Interprofessional Education Coalition (NECPA-IPEC) Collaborative Care Summit.
More than 100 students and faculty facilitators from 10 colleges and universities representing various areas of health care were in attendance. Students worked in small groups with a faculty facilitator to learn the importance of a collaborative approach to safe, effective patient care. Students also learned how to perform with a team and to communicate with team members regarding each person’s role for the patient.
