Megan Rowlands and Thomas Sobieski Jr., together with their families, announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Mary Louise Rowlands-Mamary, Pittston, and David Rowlands, Laflin. She is the granddaughter of Elizabeth Rowlands, Paradise, California, and the late Elved Rowlands, and the late Edward and Marion Dziewit.

The prospective groom is the son of Maria Sobieski, Pittston, and Thomas Sobieski, Manassas Park, Virginia. He is the grandson of Mary Hunt, San Jose, California, and the late Gerard Hunt, and the late Leonard and Marion Sobieski.

Megan is a 1998 graduate of Pittston Area High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in magazine writing from Syracuse University in 2002. She is employed as a copywriter at Lord & Taylor’s e-commerce photo studio in Wilkes-Barre. She is also an internationally published poet and freelance writer/editor.

Thomas is a 1993 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from East Stroudsburg University in 2003 and earned his Sommelier Certifications from the Philadelphia Wine School in 2014. He is employed as a general manager/sommelier at the Beaumont Inn in Dallas and continues to pursue his Master Sommelier Certification.

The couple will exchange vows on Sept. 20, 2015, at the Beaumont Inn. They currently reside in the Back Mountain with Thomas’ two sons, James and Benjamin, their three cats and their Siberian Husky, Isabella.
