Charles and Susan Smith, Hanover Township, are happy to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Lauren Margaret, to Brien Speck, son of Archibald and Nancy Williams, Duryea.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Jerome and Nancy Lawrence, Wilkes-Barre, and the late David and Katherine Smith, Edwardsville.

Lauren is a 2007 graduate of Hanover Area Junior-Senior High School and a 2011 graduate of King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, where she graduated Suma Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and a double major in business administration. Lauren is employed by Benco Dental, Pittston, as a tax accountant.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Warren Speck, Old Forge, and the late Bertha Speck, and Archibald Williams, Pittston, and the late Rose Williams.

Brien is a 2005 graduate of Pittston Area High School and Wilkes-Barre Area Vocational-Technical School, where he studied automotive mechanics. He is a fully certified ASE technician and master Subaru technician. Brien is employed by Wyoming Valley Motors Kia/Subaru, Kingston, as a service technician.

The couple will exchange vows May 7, 2016, in Firwood United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre. A reception will be held at Irem Temple County Club, Dallas. The couple resides at their home in Avoca.
