Once again, the Scranton District Dental Society (SDDS) has donated proceeds from their annual golf tournament to The Arc-NEPA (The Arc) as a demonstration of their continued gratitude to this critical organization.

Doctors Alphonse Matrone (Golf Tournament Chair), Jessica Falk (SDDS President), Kaitlyn Zefran (SDDS President-Elect), and Thomas Langan Jr. (Third District Dental Society President) presented The Arc with a check for $2,500 during the close of the tournament at the Scranton Country Club on June 12, 2024.

“It is our absolute pleasure to help raise funds for The Arc because they do such wonderful work. We have enjoyed partnering with them over decades during National Children’s Dental Health Month in February. Each year, they assist us by filling thousands of bags with toothbrushes, toothpaste, and gifts for the children of our community, helping them to learn about good dental hygiene,” states Dr. Matrone, Golf Committee Chair.

The SDDS is a voluntary organization comprising of more than 150 local member dentists. It is a constituency of the American Dental Association (ADA), the largest and oldest national dental society in the world, and the Pennsylvania Dental Association (PDA).

The SDDS oversees activities like Children’s Dental Health Month, public education, school visitations, and continuing education for dentists.

The mission of the SDDS is to provide dentists with a forum to discuss pertinent issues that relate to the practice and regulation of dentistry as it pertains to the health and general well being of the communities they serve.
