Bear Creek Township Volunteer Hose Company Fish and Shrimp Fry, 5 to 7 p.m. on each Friday of Lent, through April 3, at the Bear Creek Township Volunteer Hose House, 3500 Bear Creek Boulevard, Bear Creek Twp. Cost is $12 and includes a choice of fish, shrimp, or both, along with a generous portion of fries. Dessert will be available at an additional cost. The Easter Bunny will be there on April 3.
Wyoming Valley Chapter of The Embroiderers’ Guild of America will host a public stitch-in on Wednesday, April 1st, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Wilkes-Barre Township. The public is invited to bring something to stitch along or stop by and see what others are stitching.

Spring Rummage and Bake Sale at Wyoming United Methodist Church, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25. Items available include books, puzzles, clothing, furniture, household and holiday items. The kitchen will be open both days, serving haluski, hot dogs and wimpies. Holy Name Society of St. John the Evangelist Parish, 35 William Street in Pittston, will be selling potato pancakes (3 for $5) and your choice of red pizza or white pizza with broccoli ($15/tray) on the Fridays of Lent and Good Friday, with pickup 3:30 to 6 p.m. in the Pastoral Center Auditorium. The Mountain Top Historical Society will award the second annual Eric Aigeldinger Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Any Crestwood graduating senior who plans to further their education at a college, university or trade school can obtain an application at the CHS guidance office and return it there by May 1. Applicants need to submit an original essay of 500 words or fewer on the topic: “How has living in Mountain Top shaped the person you are today?”
