July 11 event part of America250 celebration
Cancer survivor and presidential expert Reed Elliotte will share his experiences during a talk at the Hoyt Library on July 11.

As America prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, the Hoyt Library will welcome nationally recognized presidential enthusiast and speaker Reed Elliotte for an America250 presentation at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 11.
The program will explore presidential history, civic engagement, and the power of perseverance.
Known for his remarkable knowledge of United States presidents and government, Reed first captured national attention through appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Dr. Phil. His inspiring journey includes overcoming significant medical challenges while pursuing his passion for presidential history and public service.
Through his experiences visiting presidential libraries, meeting political leaders, and studying American history, Reed has become a teen advocate for civic education and youth involvement in government.
During a family-friendly presentation, Reed will share his personal story, discuss how his interest in presidents began, and recount memorable experiences from his television appearances and travels across the country. Attendees will hear stories about political figures he has met, learn fascinating presidential facts, and discover the many career opportunities available in political science and public service.
The program will also feature an interactive presidential quiz designed especially for children and families, giving audience members the opportunity to test their knowledge of America’s commanders in chief. Reed will conclude the event with a patriotic performance of “God Bless the USA.”

The program is free and open to the public. Families, students, history enthusiasts, and anyone interested in America’s presidential legacy are encouraged to attend.
The program is presented as part of the Hoyt Library’s ongoing America250 series and the educational mission of the Larry Cook Historian Center for Presidential Research.
