The Order of Alhambra’s local Alhamar Caravan No. 4 recently held a festival for individuals with intellectual disabilities and their guests at the Polish American Veterans Pavilion in the Hudson section of Plains Township.
The event also honored the memory of Victoria A. Brown of Swoyersville, who died Jan. 9. Brown was a longtime participant in Alhamar Caravan events and a Special Olympics bowler. A gift in her memory was accepted by her mother, Gail Brown, and sister, Denise Redenski.
The festival featured picnic food, plush toys, T-shirts and a raffle prize for each participant.
Bonner Chevrolet in Kingston was the corporate sponsor. Other sponsors also contributed monetary and in-kind donations.
Entertainment was provided by The Impastas, with Amy Sekol on keyboard.
Alhamar Caravan No. 4 meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the community room at Christ the King Chapel on the King’s College campus.
