St. Joseph Center’s free Baby Pantry, 320 Blakely St., Dunmore, recently received 17 hand-knitted or crocheted baby afghans. The blankets will be used in the ‘New Blessing’ bags that are given to expectant mothers along with other needed items for their newborn children. The afghans were made by members of the Great Commission Women’s Group from the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, West Pittston. The women also made more than 70 sets of hats and scarfs, which were donated to Bethel AME Church and Keystone Rescue Mission Alliance, Scranton, and Mother Teresa Haven, Wilkes-Barre. At the presentation, from left: Mary Ann McGrath, Cathy McGuire and Ann Marie Cordaro, volunteers; Sister Mary Ann Lang, St. Joseph’s Baby Pantry; and Maggie Saltz, co-director, The Great Commission Women, Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
