WILKES-BARRE — Wilkes University will note V-Day, a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls, which is celebrated in connection with Valentine’s Day.

A cast from the university will present playwright Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues,” a play based on interviews with more than 200 women.

The play, a celebration of feminine strength and sexuality, will be shown in the Henry Student Center with doors opening at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 and 2 p.m. Feb. 13. Admission is free for Wilkes students with I.D., $5 for other students with I.D., and $10 for the general public. Smartphone I.D. cases and baked goods will be available for sale. Proceeds will benefit various local charities in their work at preventing violence against women and children.
