President Steve Golya, along with the officers and members of the Hughestown Lions Club, announce winners of the 2018 scholarship awards. This year three students from Pittston Area High School were chosen as the recipients. All Hughestown residents, the students are Mackenzie Gable, Phillip Cocco and Benjamin Cebula.
A dinner to honor the students and their families will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 at the Hughestown Hose Company, 30 Center St., Hughestown.
In other news, the Hughestown Lions Club held election of Officers for the new year. Elected were Steve Golya, president; Fred Pierantoni IV, vice president; Matt Pierantoni, vice president; Jason Chilipko, treasurer; Fred Pierantoni III, Tail Twister; and Mary Golya, publicity.
