The Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association recently awarded Andrea Bogusko the 2018 Distinguished Service Award in recognition of service and dedication to PMTA and to the music teaching profession.
Roxane Lee, Connecticut, and Michele Millington, Mountaintop, both members of the local NEPMTA, a subsidiary of PMTA nominated Bogusko. They sited her being the founder and owner of Bogusko Music Co. which has provided music lessons and instruments for decades to the area.
Bogusko, called a champion of the arts, serves as president of NEPMTA and has sponsored various Honors Recitals locally and at Carnegie Hall, New York. She has chaired many bus trips to operas, Broadway shows, and even had her group sing at Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
She is chairperson for the National Guild of Piano Teachers in Wilkes-Barre, where over 100 students audition on piano for judging, and receive certificates and awards. She also serves as an adjudicator for the Guild, judging students throughout the NE states.
She is described in the nomination letters as a visionary, leader, and excellent teacher.
Bogusko, Lee, and Millington are former students of the NEPMTA and PMTA founder Anne Liva.
