The St. Vincent de Paul Kitchen is highlighting the growing need to feed the hungry at the “100,000 Meals” Gala to take place Oct. 6 at the Fox Hill Country Club in Exeter. Tickets are $100 and all proceeds go to the St. Vincent de Paul Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre.
“The St. Vincent de Paul Kitchen serves 100,000 meals in a year,” said Dr. David Shemo, president of the kitchen’s advisory board. “It truly makes a difference for so many people in need. The Gala gives us the opportunity to talk about what the kitchen does, highlight the need to fund the kitchen so it can continue to meet the needs in our area, and to really highlight the outstanding support the Kitchen has received – especially the wonderful support that our award recipient Attorney Carl N. Frank has and continues to provide.”
Distinguished Service Award recipient Attorney Carl N. Frank has served two terms as the Advisory Board President of SVDP Kitchen, and has been a board member for more than 31 years. He has also served two terms as Chairman of the Wyoming Valley Advisory Board of Catholic Social Services, where he has been a board member for more than 33 years. Attorney Frank has maintained a law office on the 10th floor of the former Citizens Bank Building in Downtown Wilkes-Barre for over 40 years. He and his wife, Jane, are the parents of two children, Carl Edward Frank and Mary Leah Frank.
The 100,000 Meals Gala will also recognize St. Vincent de Paul founder – Monsignor Donald A. McAndrews – for his efforts to make the Kitchen a reality – filling a critical need in this area.
