Elaine Walker, RN, MSN, Commonwealth Health Heart and Vascular Institute programs director, has been named chair of the American Heart Association’s 2018 Northeast PA Go Red for Women Luncheon. The second annual women’s heart health awareness and fundraising event will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2 at the Hilton Scranton & Conference Center.

Walker’s career in cardiac nursing spans 40 years and she has 30 years experience in cardiac services management. She has served as the Commonwealth Health Heart and Vascular Institute programs director since 2015. She also serves as director of the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, diagnostic services vascular lab and chest pain coordinator at Regional Hospital of Scranton.

In addition to serving as chair of the Go Red for Women Luncheon, Walker previously served as chair of the Northeast PA Heart Walk and is a member of the board of directors for the American Heart Association, Northeast PA Division. She also serves her community by speaking about cardiovascular health to community groups and organizations throughout the region.

The Northeast PA Go Red for Women Luncheon will feature the “Pursenalities” silent auction of designer purses donated by local business and community leaders, as well as a heart healthy lunch and inspirational speakers. Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement.

The Northeast PA Go Red for Women Luncheon is sponsored nationally by Macy’s and CVS Health and locally by Commonwealth Health, Highmark and UGI.
