The King’s College Theater Department was recently awarded a $1,000 grant from Scranton Tomorrow in partnership with the 2018 Governor’s Arts Awards Local Committee.

Funds from the grant will be used to develop a staged reading of Nora Ephron’s play, “Love, Loss, and What I Wore,” to benefit Ruth’s Place and the Kirby Family House in Wilkes-Barre.

Ruth’s Place provides safe, temporary, and short-term housing for women experiencing homelessness in both Luzerne and Lackawanna counties. The Kirby Family House is a homeless living facility, which provides families with the necessary tools to start rebuilding their lives.

The goal of the performance, tentatively scheduled for the spring, is to offer low-income individuals and families the opportunity to experience the arts.
