Children from Luzerne County Head Start, Inc. (LCHS) paired up with Luzerne County Community College (LCCC) to create a “Wishing Tree.” The tree was unveiled earlier this month during a short ceremony in the college’s rotunda. In honor of the wishes, children make each day, Head Start children wanted to find a way to invite others to share their wishes and dreams. A small basket that contains tags adorned with brightly colored ribbon sits next to the tree. College students, teachers, or anyone who passes by can fill out a tag and hang their wish on the tree. From left, first row, are Luzerne County Head Start students Jackson, Britlyn, Aurora, Kenneth, Lucas, Isabella. Second row, Emma, Emanuel, Hunter, Nikolas, Rylee, Layla, Adrian. Third row, Kelly Billig, center manager, Luzerne County Head Start; Kim Long, teacher, Luzerne County Head Start; Thomas P. Leary, president, LCCC.
