“La Chat Boots,” more commonly known as “ Puss In Boots” will be staged by the Joan Harris Dancers Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28 at the Dallas Performing Arts School on the campus of the Dallas High School.

The Harris Centre’s production of “Puss In Boots” is and based on the work of Roland Petit of the National Ballet of Marseille. It also features original staging by the centre’s 12 ballet instructors.

“Puss In Boots” opens with three brothers receiving an inheritance from their father. One son is given the family mill, another the family cow and the third son only receives a cat named Puss, but what a cat it is. Before the story is over, Puss has introduced its owner to its owner to a princess, outwitted the horrific ogre who wants to devour the princess and her companions, captures a palace for Jean and reunites the two lovers. As with most fairy tales everyone lives happily ever after.

Lindsay Sherrick will assay the role of the Princess and will be joined on the stage by Alec Aversa, performing the lead role of the peasant Jean with Emily Heffner, portraying the crafty cat Puss. The Princess’s Companions will be danced by Kendalyn Gerhardt, Isabella Locke, Grace Nicolai, and Victoria Zulteviz, Completing the principles roles will be Mazzatosta the evil Ogre.

“Puss In Boots” will be performed at 1 and 5 p.m. April 27 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28. Tickets for the ballet are $11 in advance and may be purchased at the Harris Conservatory for the Arts in Luzerne.
