The Israeli Scouts will perform at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 26 at the Friedman Jewish Community Center, 613 S J Strauss Lane, Kingston. Their performance will be followed by refreshments, and a meet and greet with the Scouts. The performance is free and open to the community, but reservations are requested and may be made by calling 570-824-4646.

Like Scouts throughout the world, the Tzofim are said to be always prepared and providing community service. Out of 60,000 Scouts throughout Israel, only 100 are chosen for the Tzofim Summer Delegation.

The Tzofim Friendship Caravan travels throughout North America visiting cities and camps. The caravan representing Israel use song and dance as their means of expression. The caravan features 10 teenagers and two adult leaders.

To become part of the Caravan the teenagers must go through a four-step elimination process. They are selected based on personal interviews, their knowledge of Israel, English communication skills, general group interaction, and leadership abilities. After they are selected to be part of the Friendship caravan, the Scouts rehearse weekly for four months under the direction of entertainment professionals.

The caravan’s performance will convey Israeli culture, music and tradition, bringing a message of peace and friendship. Audiences are encouraged to sing and dance.
