Twice a year, Manayunk celebrates local food with a massive festival along Main Street. The spring StrEAT Food Festival will be held, rain or shine, on April 12. This year’s highlighted ingredient is strawberries, so vendors will be selling strawberry themed specialties.

Main Street will be closed for the entire day so visitors can enjoy food from more than 40 of the best local food trucks, as well as cuisine from the city’s restaurants. The day will also include live entertainment and sidewalk sales where many of the town’s businesses will be offering promotions.

Two of Main Street’s parking lots will be transformed into farmers’ markets where gourmet foods can be sampled and purchased. All items are made locally. Additionally, like the fall’s festival, a beer garden will be set up on Cotton Street.

For more family fun activities, Canal View Park will be designated as a kids’ area. Hosted by Destination Schuylkill River, this will include a moon bounce, face painting, games and sidewalk chalk.

Coming from out of town? The festival has teamed up with the car service, Uber, for complimentary rides up to $20. Guests must be new to Uber and can use the promo code StrEAT15 for their complimentary ride.

The StrEAT food festival kicks off Manayunk’s restaurant week, running from April 12 to 24. Many of the city’s best restaurants will be offering a three course prix fixe menu, offered at $15, $25 and $35 price ranges. Participating restaurants include Smokin’ John’s Barbeque, Bourbon Blue and La Collina. Make reservations early by calling restaurants or using Open Table.
