WILKES-BARRE — Gordon Lightfoot will perform at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts this summer.
On Sunday, August 2, the singer-songwriter will take to the stage and sing some of his hits over the past 50 years including “Early Morning Rain,” “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Carefree Highway” and “Sundown.”
Tickets for the 8 p.m. concert go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, April 10. Kirby member presale begins on Thursday, April 9. Tickets are available through the Kirby Center’s box office or online at www.kirbycener.org or by phone at 570-826-1100.
Lightfoot is embarking on a cross-country tour called “Gordon Lightfoot – 50 Years On The Carefree Highway.”
The performances will consist of the well-known hits, album cuts geared to the die-hard fans as well as personal stories of Lightfoot’s 50-year career.
According to a news release issued by the Kirby Center, Lightfoot has recorded 20 albums and has five Grammy nominations. Aside from his success in writing, singing and performing his own music, Lightfoot’s songs have been recorded and performed by some of the greatest of all time including: Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Jr., Marty Robbins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Judy Collins, Eric Clapton, Johnny Mathis, Anne Murray, Olivia Newton-John, Sarah McLachlan, Barbra Streisand, Peter Paul & Mary, Harry Belafonte, Jane’s Addiction, Richie Havens, Glen Campbell, Toby Keith, Alison Krauss and George Hamilton IV.
Ticket Prices will range from $39.50, $49.50, $59.50 to $71.50 plus applicable fees.
