PITTSTON — Acaro’s The Next Generation, 2 Bryden St., our latest stop on the Luzerne County Pizza Trail, is a modern gem that caught my attention with its updated, spacious sports bar and dining area. The establishment smartly separates its take-out and dine-in entrances, catering to both the grab-and-go crowd and those looking to linger over food or a drink. … or both.

The ambiance leans more toward an adult hangout spot rather than a family-friendly restaurant, setting the stage for a relaxed evening. The pizza selection is impressive, offering round and square styles, from the classic red pie to the innovative chicken Alfredo square pizza that I opted for. Additionally, their menu is rounded out with a variety of white pizzas, hoagies, wings, calzones, appetizers and other Italian entrees.

The highlight of my visit was the chicken Alfredo square pizza. Each tray oozes with generous amounts of Alfredo sauce and cheese, topping tender pieces of chicken cutlets on a crunchy, thick crust. The first bite, straight out of the oven, was nothing short of heavenly — I couldn’t resist sneaking a slice before even making it home.

While the chicken Alfredo pizza stole the show, the standard round red pizza also impressed. The thin crust strikes a perfect balance between crispy and soft, loaded with ample cheese. To add a kick, I paired my round red with a side of Mike’s Hot Honey, which delivered a distinct, spicy flavor that elevated the slice.

Pricing at Acaro’s is very reasonable, particularly for the standard pies. Specialty pizzas are priced higher, as expected, but overall, the menu is budget-friendly. The convenience of ordering online through their Slice service made the experience seamless. I was quickly assisted at the take-out section and had my pizza in hand in no time.

Acaro’s The Next Generation is a fantastic spot for either take-out or a casual hangout. With its pizzeria and sports bar vibe, it’s definitely a place I’ll be returning to visit.
