Geisinger promotes world-renowned cardiologistto chief of clinical electrophysiology

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Pugazhendhi Vijayaraman, M.D., has been promoted to chief of clinical electrophysiology for Geisinger.

Geisinger hospitals in Wilkes-Barre, Scranton certified as Comprehensive Heart Attack Centers

Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV) and Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC) recently became the second and third hospitals in the country to earn The Joint Commission/American Heart Association (AHA) Comprehensive Heart Attack Center Certification, joining Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) in Danville in establishing a national precedent for coordination among care teams who treat patients on the heart attack spectrum.

From Walmart to medical clinic: Geisinger shows off new Pittston Township Healthplex

A few years ago it was a hulking, hollowed-out husk, a discarded Walmart with the guts removed, the doors gone and long strings of temporary lighting showing off ceiling beams and bare floor. On Thursday modern glass doors opened to reveal a 124,000 square foot medical clinic bustling with state-of-the art equipment amid scores of rooms tailored to serve a wide range of outpatient needs.


			
				                                Following their walk at Nay Aug Park in Scranton, patients stayed and socialized in Hanlon’s Grove. Socialization is one of the most effective ways for seniors to improve their mental health, as it may help with memory and longevity as it reduces stress and isolation.

Geisinger 65 Forward Scranton group takes workout outdoors

With the warm weather of summer, Geisinger’s 65 Forward Scranton patients took their workouts outside, specifically their outdoor walking program, for “A Day in the Park” at the Nay Aug Park on a recent Wednesday.
