Benco Dental found an ideal home at CenterPoint for its growing corporate home office.

There’s more than a typical office and distribution center inside Benco Dental’s corporate home office at 295 CenterPoint Blvd. It’s also the country’s first and largest superstore for high-tech dental equipment, design and architecture, one of three the company operates (the others are in the Los Angeles and Dallas, Texas, areas). Dentists travel from miles around to test drive tech, like digital x-rays and collaborate with in-house designers to plan new practices.

It’s part of the company’s aim to drive dentistry forward, advancing the science of oral healthcare through innovative tools, programs and technologies. Benco has a long history of industry firsts, from pioneering electronic product ordering in the 1980s, to more recently disrupting the market for digital CAD/CAM tooth restoration systems with OneVisit®. This system allows dentists to integrate best-of-breed oral scanners and milling machines using a fully open architecture—something that wasn’t possible just a few short years ago.

Company culture is very people-centric with associates and customers alike. Benco is ranked No. 19 on Fortune magazine’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare & Biopharma, the third consecutive appearance. Locally, the Times Leader Media Group named them one of the 2018 Best Places to Work in Northeast Pennsylvania. Approximately one-third of Benco’s 1,516 associates are local, and last year, they received $1.3 million in profit sharing bonuses. Benco’s “Net Promoter” customer satisfaction score ranked higher than well-loved brands like Apple and Amazon, and their Pro-Sys toothbrush brand earned a recent Edison Award for excellence in the development of new products that improve peoples’ lives.

The home office also houses a complete distribution center, where a dedicated team of specialists receive, prepare and ship everything from dental floss to six-figure imaging systems that will later be installed by Benco techs nationwide. Their sophisticated warehouse systems result in an extraordinarily low error rate of just 5.91 per 10,000 lines. But because the company subscribes to a philosophy of relentless self-improvement, they’re currently investing over $300,000 to lower that number by implementing voice product picking in Pittston, and at their distribution centers in Indiana, Texas, Florida and Nevada.

Benco even innovates in the way it powers the building. The office is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certified, meeting some of the highest standards set forth by the United States Green Building Council. They’re also committed to using 100 percent renewable energy through April 2021. “At Benco, green means continuously discovering and implementing methods to reduce our facilities’ environmental impact,” said Chuck Cohen, Benco managing director.

Considering their wide range of products and services, Benco could easily choose anywhere from Silicon Valley to New York City to call home. But CenterPoint offers the potential for expansion, access to a talented workforce and proximity to shipping routes. Combined, that keeps the nearly 90-year-old company right here, where it was originally founded.
