CLARKS SUMMIT — Janice Slater, a resident of Keystone Community Resources, was one of three women sent by the company to compete in the first-ever Pennsylvania Miss Amazing Pageant in Bethlehem and was crowned queen in the 24 to 27 age category.
Pennsylvania Miss Amazing is a non-profit organization that gives girls and young women with disabilities the opportunity to build self-confidence in a supportive environment.
Keystone Community Resources is a company that provides community based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It has 60 group homes; seven day programs; a bakery, Keystone Konfections, in Tunkhannock; a coffee business, Keystone Koffee, in Wilkes-Barre and Artworks Gallery in Scranton. These locations are working vocational businesses that allow people with disabilities to learn life and work skills, with the proceeds circling back to benefit them.
The company is proud of Slater’s accomplishment.
Slater loves music, art and cooking. Her future goals are to be as happy and independent as possible.
