Christmas Bazaar, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 10 and Nov. 11 and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 12 in the parish center at St. John’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Hill Street, Mayfield. Crafters and vendors will offer imported gifts from Russia, Greece and the Holy Land including Matroshka nesting dolls, samovars, amber jewelry, ornaments and olive wood manger sets. Donegal Ball, sponsored by the Donegal Society of Greater Wilkes-Barre, Nov. 10 at the Woodlands, featuring the music of the Willie Lynch Band. Veterans Appreciation Dinner, an evening of appreciation and spaghetti dinner for all those who served our country. Waverly Community House, 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 10. Free and open to the public. Veterans Day Events, are open to the public on the University of Scranton campus on Nov. 10. Interfaith prayer service over a “Field of Flags” at Commons Flag Terrace and Founders Green at 11 a.m. An open house from 2 to 5 p.m. will give individuals opportunity to meet officers of the Veterans Club in the Veterans Lounge on the first floor of Hyland Hall. Lecture at 7 p.m. about “Mindfulness Training: Stress Reduction Workshop” in Veterans Lounge.
Night at the Races, fundraiser hosted by the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. Wilkes-Barre Township Fire Department, Watson Street, Wilkes-Barre Township. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and first race is at 7:15 p.m. Nov. 11. Admission is $5 per person. Cost to purchase a horse is $10 and includes admission. Dinner to benefit local veterans, hosted by The American Legion Riders Post 495, Shickshinny, 575 state Route 239, Shickshinny. 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 11. Tickets cost $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Memorial plaque dedication, by the Kingston Historical Society to honor 1500 Kingston soldiers who served in WWII. The original names were posted on three large panels that were on the left side of the Hoyt Library. The new plaque will hang in the Kingston Borough Building. 7 p.m. Nov. 20. The mayor, council members, Kingston Historical Society officers and State Rep. Aaron Kaufer will be in attendance.
