Fire at the Furnace Week, through June 2, includes 20 exhibits featuring the work of 300 artists, narrated and theatrical iron pours, First Friday exhibits and blacksmithing demonstrations, a Ferrous Flyer train excursion from Scranton to the Poconos, and a public wedding of cast iron artists at the Scranton Iron Furnaces, 159 Cedar Ave., Scranton. June Rummage Sale, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 2, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 3 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 4, basement of Zion United Church of Christ, 40 West Main Street, Nanticoke. Clothing, household item, books, Exxon toy trucks and much more. Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.

5K Run/Walk for Candy’s Place, A Cancer Wellness Center, June 2 at Kirby Park, Wilkes-Barre. Registration begins at 8 a.m., kid’s 1-mile run begins at 8:30 a.m. and 5K begins at 9. Pre-registration is $30 per person or $40 on the day, with $15 for children 7 to 12 and free for kids under 5. Comedy Night Fundraiser for Single Moms of NEPA, will take place at 9 p.m. June 2 at Wise Crackers Comedy Club in Mohegan Sun Pocono. Featured comedians are Jared Freid, Glen Tickle and Michelle Tomko. Event features gift basket raffles and door prizes. ‘Springtime Birds in My Backyard’ book-signing, 11 a.m. June 2 at Wild Birds Unlimited store, Dallas Shopping Center, Dallas. The easy-to-read children’s book explores birds’ magnificent colors and their calls. It was written by Keystone College professor Dr. Karen Yarrish and illustrated by Keystone professor David Porter. Deep Breath Book Signing and Sale, will take place from 10 a.m. to noon June 9 at Sugar Plum, 900 Rutter Ave., Forty Fort. The event will feature local resident Rachel Pugh’s children’s book, “Deep Breathe,” which was illustrated by her 12-year-old cousin, Paige Ceaser, of Mountain Top. The duo will sign and sell their book for $10, and all sales will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Northeast Pennsylvania Chapter. Sugar Plum will sell specially designed “Deep Breath” chocolate bars and donate a portion of the proceeds to the foundation.

Back pain seminar, with neurosurgeon Dr. Philip Hlavac and interventional pain management specialist Dr. Christopher Connor, 6 p.m. June 12, Mohegan Sun Pocono, Route 315, Plains Township. Macbeth, National Theatre Live on Screen, Shakespeare’s most intense and terrifying tragedy will see Rory Kinnear and Anne-Marie Duff return to the National Theatre to play Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. The ruined aftermath of a bloody civil war. Ruthlessly fighting to survive, the Macbeths are propelled towards the crown by forces of elemental darkness. Volunteers in Medicine’s 10th annual Music, Medicine and Moving Into The Future Gala, a fund-raiser to benefit the full-time, full-service medical and dental clinic. With a theme “Out of this Galaxy,” the fund-raiser will begin 6 p.m. June 15 at the Woodlands Inn and Resort. Entertainment includes a live, 30-minute performance by Lady Gaga tribute artist Renee Nicole Gray and dancing to the futuristic sounds of 570 Events. Donuts for Dad, a kick-off to the Hoyt Library’s Summer Reading Program, 10 to 11:30 a.m. June 16 at the Hoyt Library, Wyoming Avenue, Kingston, with a story, craft and doughnuts. Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm opens its 55th summer tour season starting June 16 with the 11th annual Summer Garden Party. Visitors will meet guides who portray family members going about a typical day on an 1800s homestead and folks will have a chance to involve themselves with garden activities. General admission is $10 for adults and $5 for ages 3 to 12, and includes both the tour and the garden party. The farm is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. 13th annual tour of historic churches, sponsored this year by Kingston Historical Society and led by attorney Jan Lokuta. Meet at 1 p.m. June 24 at Wyoming Seminary’s Stettler Learning Resource Center, Sprague Avenue, Kingston. Tour will include stops at the Wyoming Seminary bell tower, the Wyoming Valley Montessori School, the Church of Christ Uniting, the Dorranceton United Methodist church and the Westmoor Church of Christ.
