WILKES-BARRE TWP. — An Exeter woman was arrested Sunday after police say she threw coffee in a man’s face and attempted to stab him in the parking lot of Target.

Marley Scott, 34, was arraigned early Monday morning after she was taken into custody inside Ross Dress For Less the day before with a bandage around her index finger from an accidental self-inflicted stab wound.

According to the criminal complaint:

Scott and the victim were seated in a parked car in the Target parking lot on Sunday afternoon just before 1 p.m. when the incident took place.

An argument broke out between the two about the status of their relationship, becoming more and more heated and eventually turning into a physical dispute when Scott threw her cup of coffee at the victim, according to the complaint.

The victim asked Scott to get out of his vehicle several times, which she was reluctant to do.

As the dispute continued, Scott reached down into her purse and pulled out a silver and black folding knife. As the victim tried to exit the vehicle, he felt a sharp pointed feeling on his right side.

When the victim turned to see what had happened, Scott thrust the knife toward the victim’s back. The locking mechanism on the knife failed and the blade closed on Scott’s right finger, causing her to bleed significantly.

Scott exited the vehicle while the victim ran toward Target. She ran toward Marshall’s Department Store, and was later located by Wilkes-Barre Township police inside the Ross store, where she was taken into custody.

Upon speaking with the victim, officers learned that he had taken video of Scott throwing the coffee at him, as well as of Scott pulling out the folding knife.

The knife was later located on the passenger side floor of the vehicle, partially opened and bloodied. It was determined that the knife brandished by Scott in the video was the same as the knife found at the scene.

Scott was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge James M. Dixon and charged with a felony count of aggravated assault, as well as misdemeanor accounts of simple assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and a summary count of harassment.

She was transported to Luzerne County Correctional Facility for failure to post $25,000 in bail, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 26.
