SCRANTON — Attorney Julia K. Munley has been named as the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority (LHVA).
Munley has been a member of LHVA’s Board of Directors for six years, previously serving as Vice Chairperson and Secretary. Her appointment as Chairperson is historic as she is the first female to serve in this capacity.
Hundreds recently braved cold temperatures and snowy trails to run in Shiver by the River and registration is already closed for the Scranton Half Marathon slated for April 12. Thousands have signed up for the big race, and Munley is among them.
Munley is part of the family of lawyers at Munley Law, based in Scranton. Among her many accomplishments, she was recently named one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers Association.
An active member of the community, Munley also volunteers her time with a number of civic organizations, including St. Francis of Assisi Soup Kitchen, where she serves as vice chairperson of the board of directors, and with the Hope Clinic, where she provides free legal services to those in need. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries, an Advocate of the National College of Advocacy and serves on numerous Lackawanna Bar Association Committees.
Munley was awarded a Juris Doctor from the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marywood University, where she graduated magna cum laude. She is married to Attorney Patrick Rogan and lives in Clarks Summit.
