WILKES-BARRE — A man from Texas was arraigned Wednesday on charges he punched a nurse while a patient at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital earlier this year.

City police allege James Frederick Mohl, 25, was a patient at the hospital and punched a nurse in the face on March 16.

After the nurse was punched, police allege Mohl then strangled the nurse.

Mohl then struck a second hospital employee who attempted to intervene, according to the criminal complaint.

Other hospital staff were needed to restrain Mohl.

Police said the nurse sustained injuries to his face and neck.

Mohl was arraigned by District Judge Joseph D. Spagnuolo Jr. in Luzerne County Central Court on three counts of aggravated assault and a single count of harassment. He was jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $50,000 bail.
