NANTICOKE —Luzerne County Community College was ranked 8th among 13 community colleges in Pennsylvania, by the producer of copious such lists, wallethub.com.

Wallethub’s analysis looked at 685 schools from the list of member institutions in the American Association of Community Colleges, conceding “due to data limitations, we were not able to include all member schools. They evaluated cost and financing, education outcomes and career outcomes using 19 total metrics grouped in those categories.

LCCC ranked 481st nationwide. It got middle totals in the Cost and Financing parameters (scoring 458) and Education outcomes parameters (447), but lower totals in the Career Outcomes category (298).

By comparison, Buck County Community College got the highest ranking in Pennsylvania with category scores o 512 in cost and financing, 270 in education outcomes and 392 in career outcomes.

Bucks and LCCC weren’t that far apart in t he final “total score” of 1 to 100. LCCC scored while Buck County score 56.69 while LCCC scored 50.77. Yet that was enough of a difference to land bucks at number 263 in the nation compared to LCCC’s 481st ranking.
