WILKES-BARRE — Lori Nocito, executive director of Leadership Northeast, Tuesday said the Executive Leadership program acquaints participants with Northeastern Pennsylvania’s history, business environment, political and civic structures, and community and economic development initiatives.

“This program is very important for executives who are new to our area, new to their position, or for those who would like to become reacquainted with our region,” Nocito said. “It provides information about local cultural and recreational resources and it also offers the opportunity to interact with a cross-section of key local decision-makers and introduces participants to the other executive/professional individuals and couples.”

Nocito said several participants have signed up for the program and Leadership Northeast is still recruiting participants.

Program topics include community and economic development, government, history, recreation and tourism, arts and culture. The dinner/program venues include the Mary Stegmaier Mansion, The Joint at Rikasa, Mohegan Sun Arena, Bank and Vine, Jonathan’s Restaurant, and the Westmoreland Club.

Executive Leadership Northeast (ELNE) began in 1985 as a community orientation program for key executives, professionals and their spouses who have either recently moved into Northeastern Pennsylvania, have recently moved into an executive position, or for those who would like to get re-acquainted with the community.

The program is comprised of six evening sessions, held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sessions include entertaining and informative presentations and question/answer periods on topics such as local history, recreation, political structure, educational opportunities, economic development, networking opportunities and more. The cost of the program is $1,500, with spouses included at no additional cost.

Program Objectives:

• To integrate relocated executives and professionals into the community and challenge them to become involved in community activities by providing:

— An overview of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s economic, political and civic structure.

— An exposure to local cultural resources.

— An introduction to a cross–section of community leaders.

• To provide the opportunity to interact with key local decision-makers and business leaders to discuss the area’s history, government, business environment, educational institutions, and cultural offerings.

• To provide networking opportunities for all participants.
