FORTY FORT — A man who reportedly threatened to kill police officers was arrested and found to have an outstanding warrant, according to the borough’s police department.

Derek Konkus, 28, of Forty Fort was arrested after police received reports on Thursday that he was acting strangely and had made threats to kill himself and others, according to a post on the CrimeWatch Luzerne County website; the post cites the Forty Fort Police Department as a source.

According to the website, the Forty Fort Police Department had received reports that Konkus, under the influence of drugs, had been making threats to kill himself and others.

Reportedly, Konkus had said that if the police were to be called on him, that “you will see a bunch of dead cops.” Konkus was also reported to be armed, police said.

During the subsequent search, Konkus was discovered to be the subject of an outstanding warrant from the Luzerne County Sheriff’s Department.

Konkus was located by officers from Forty Fort, Swoyersville and Courtdale and taken into custody without incident. Found in his possession was a fully-loaded semi-automatic handgun with an obliterated serial number.

He was lodged at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on the outstanding warrant, and additional charges are pending, according to the CrimeWatch website. A search through court records doesn’t indicate what those charges may be, or whether or not Konkus had been arraigned as of Saturday evening.
