Luzerne County Assistant District Attorney Drew P. McLaughlin is returning to private practice while remaining with the district attorney’s office in a part-time status.

McLaughlin announced he has rejoined the Elliott Greenleaf, P.C., law firm after working full-time as an assistant district attorney for the last four years.

During his term as an assistant district attorney, McLaughlin’s trial experience includes homicides, robberies, sexual assaults, aggravated assaults and drug cases. McLaughlin joined the district attorney’s office in 2018 and was elevated to chief of the district attorney’s major crimes unit.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, McLaughlin graduated magna cum laude from King’s College in 2009 with a degree in professional writing, and worked on a congressional campaign in suburban Philadelphia before accepting a position as an aide to Wilkes-Barre Mayor Thomas M. Leighton.

Between 2010 and 2014, McLaughlin served in a variety of roles in Leighton’s administration, including press liaison, communications director and as an administrator.

McLaughlin graduated from the Dickinson School of Law in the top 20 percent of the Class of 2017, and was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar Association in October 2017.

McLaughlin began his legal career as an associate with Elliott Greenleaf, P.C. in 2017, before joining the district attorney’s office.

McLaughlin will eventually manage operations of the law firm’s Wilkes-Barre office.

“We are excited to add an attorney with Drew’s trial experience, intellect and work ethic to our Wilkes-Barre office. His judgment and leadership will benefit our clients, culture and attorneys,” stated John P. Elliot, chairman of Elliott Greenleaf, P.C.
